背 景 FUG1 encodes a chloroplast localized protein with similarity to translation initiation factor 2. It is one of the essential components for the initiation of protein synthesis. It protects formylmethionyl-tRNA from spontaneous hydrolysis and promotes its binding to the 30S ribosomal subunits. It is also involved in the hydrolysis of GTP during the formation of the 70S ribosomal complex. |
